Elm Street School Transformed

An Innovative Approach to Teacher Housing

Mission of the project

This is a project to convert the district’s Elm Street School into teacher housing – apartment units. Given the scarcity of available housing in our area, it has become increasingly difficult for new hires to be able to secure housing. Additionally, the Elm Street School needs some TLC and an upgrade; it is 155 years old, built in 1869. We also understand how important this building is to so many people in our community – it is historic and iconic– and we are using a creative idea to be good stewards of this landmark while at the same time addressing a critical housing need and looking forward to maintain our ability to recruit staff.
